A Few Things

First.
I'm really excited about the fact that I have signed up to take Composition 1 at Northern this semester. It will be good for me to take it now so that I can have 2 classes under my belt by fall! (hopefully 3, Bio in the summer) I can't wait. This one has 2 books that I have to buy for this one, but I can get those cheap on Amazon. Plus this class is only...wait for it.....700 dollars! I know, wow. But I get $300 back for passing with a C or higher, which is awesome since my math class was $900.

Second.
Friday I finally got my ACCEPTANCE letter to PC! I'm SO excited about that :) This is why I want to get as many classes that I can done at Northern as possible because their classes are much less expensive. I've been talking with a friend that I work with who is going to PC for RadTech also and she says she absolutely loves it. She's excited for me to join her :)

Third.
Last night, my little Peeko decided it would be okay for me to hold him for the FIRST TIME!! I was so happy :))) I've been waiting so long to have a bird to hold, and now I has! I did discover that he can flutter around so I may have to clip his little flying feathers. I think his favorite thing to do right now is to preen. ALWAYS. And I've been teaching him that cheek rubs are "niiice" and biting is "no, no" and "nigh nigh" and "buh bye." Hopefully it won't be too long until he gets it.

Fourth.
Working Christmas Day yesterday was NOT fun.. How many people do you think came up to me yesterday saying.. "Oh, that's too bad that you have to work Christmas Day..." .. Yeah well... I wouldn't have to if 200 people didn't come for the 4:00 shows.... My parents came earlier.. that was just fine.. but don't come up to me and say how much it sucks that I have to work to help YOU. No. No no no no no no no. Annoying.

Last.
I've been thinking about getting myself a Kindle. I'm not sure whether I want just a regular Kindle or the new Kindle Fire. It's a tough decision. I know 3 people now who have new Kindle Fires and they all absolutely love them. Another friend and John's parents have earlier versions of the Kindle and those work just wonderfully, but I'm still not sure if I want the whole experience or just something to read on. I know I do want to get one though because it makes textbooks cheap :P

Newest Little Friend :)

This is Peeko :)
He is a blue parrotlet.
He was my Christmas present this year :)

Parrotlets are the world's smallest breed of parrot and are very smart. They can live 15 to 20 years and can be potty trained, hand tamed, and can learn up to 180 words! Peeko is still a baby so we have a long way to go on all of that. He has already been trying to immitate my mom's kissy noises. It's progressed to a sort of clicking. As you can see, he loves to hang upside down. I think he might spend more time like that than right side up (lol). As for hand training, we've gotten as far as petting. He loves cheek rubs. He has a little bit of a nipping habit, but we might be able to break that or he might just grow out of it since he's still very young.

The Most Wonderful Time :)

Christmas time is here and I am READY!! Well, almost. As it turns out, I yet again realized that I'm missing a couple things, but I am so excited for everyone to get their specially picked out gifts that I have harvested from online :) I also felt some of mine. Pretty heavy ;)

Little Harmony is all better now and I finally finished the quilt I made for her. I will post pictures of it plus the large quilt I made for myself in a later post after it has been given, just in case Nicole happens upon this post before it has been presented. I'm so excited for her to see. I've been working on this thing for over 9 weeks.

On another note, I am happy to say that I passed my Math 102 class nicely with a B. Now I get my mom's $300 back :) I also decided to enroll in English 101 (Composition 1) for the spring semester. I just think it's a good idea to get as many classes done that I need for RadTech at Northern as I can (since it's way cheaper). It's possible that I will take a couple summer classes aswell.

Also, visit my Aunt Kathy's blog if you're in to knitting, books, and stuff :)

Dancing

Let me tell a little about my dance history. I have been dancing since I was 4 years old starting out in ballet. I did ballet only for a few years and then added tap. Then added jazz. Dropped tap. Dropped ballet. Added modern. Dropped modern. Added modern again, and now, in my final year as a senior, I am enrolled in jazz and modern, plus a senior dance coriographed from 6 of us who are to be graduating this year.

Tonight was the first night that we actually sat down as a group and talked about what we want to do with this dance. We want it to be amazing. A hard piece, with fast and slow movements. In the end we decided that we kind of want the dance to resemble the poem "Fire and Ice" by Robert Frost:

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

It's really amazing, and we were thinking of dancing to our own voices reciting the poem overtop of maybe some fast/slow instrumental music. It's all in the very begining of its making, but I think it will really turn out awesome. I've been thinking about this dance for 5 years now.

Well, we just finished decorating our Christmas tree (finally, yay!) so now it is off to be for me so I'm not extremely tired for my Math 102 final tomorrow. It's at 4:30 in the afternoon but still. It's cutting into my nap hour! (lol)

Babies, Knitting, Finals, and College!

Well, a little bad news, little sprout has jaundice :( I am sad. Everyone says it will clear up soon, but Nicole is heartbroken about it. What do you expect? Good mommies worry about their babies. And so do good aunties :) I hope little bug will get better soon so that I can visit and cuddle. My favorite :)

Today I also went to a knitting group for the first time and the Red Rooster Coffee House. That place is awesome by the way. Anyway, my aunt hosts it, so she invited me (as an aspiring knitter) to come along to the Christmas party. I really loved it. Those ladies are so funny. I plan to go again :)

Today was my last day of class for my Math 102! SO happy that I don't have to wake up until 8am instead of the usual 6:20am for 2 whole weeks until Christmas break! WOO!! Math final is coming up here on the 15th so I will be spending an amount of time studying and doing practice tests, but soon it will all be over and then I will never have to take another math class again. So happy.

I sent in my online application to Presentation College here in Aberdeen this morning because I feel like I would get done with my schooling in Radiologic Technology if I just started there to begin with instead of going 2 years at Northern and then 3 and a half years at PC. Nah.. I should probably just begin at PC. I have my whole coarse list ready to go :)

And now for baby since I didn't put up pictures :D

Harmony Is Here!

Well, as of 5:52 pm on December 6, 2011, our little girl has finally arrived! She is so precious. And tiny! 6lbs 2oz. That's what you get for being a week early :)

It's so surreal. My best friend is a mama. We've known each other since 2nd grade! It's so amazing how we can make real people from our own bodies. I am facinated. I held the little punkin last night and holding her little body in my arms when just 2 hours ago she was inside Nicole's body was just... I can't even describe it with words. Mama is tired. The first thing I heard when I walked in there was, "Guys, don't EVER have kids." Lol. She's funny. She said it was the worst thing she had ever experienced in her life, which does kind of make me weary of having my own little ones, but that won't be for quite some time. She is so excited for this little girl. We all are. Especially daddy. He was attached to her the whole time I was in that room. He didn't want to let go of her :) So sweet. He reacted so lovingly. I was proud of him since it seemed like he wasn't so sure about the whole thing. I think reality didn't really hit him until that little girl was in his arms and he realized that this is for real. I don't think reality hit any of us youngins until last night. I am so proud of them. I wish them the best of luck on their parenthood. I'll be around often :) Now to finish that baby quilt!

Best Wishes

Well, the day is upon us. My Nicole will be having her daughter sometime tomorrow. She is being induced at 7am. I'm really sad that I won't get to be with her through it :( I cannot wait to hold that little bundle in my arms :) I'm really excited to be part of this little girl's life.

Wishing her the best of luck for an easy birthing :) Happy birthday early little Harmony.

Exciting Things Are Upon Us :)

So my very good friend Nicole is having a baby in the next couple of weeks here and she is HUGE. I can't wait to see her little girl here at last. This is the first time I have second-handedly experience someone's pregnancy that I remember. This is so exciting. Little Harmony is due on the 15th of December but Nicole could pop any day now. I need to get pictures taken of her big belly before that baby is on the outside. This might be a project.

Another note, my Math 102 final is coming up here on the 15th aswell. I'm really excited because that means that I am done with college until the fall since I was only taking one class. I had just decided to get a tiny jump on a general class. Hopefully I'll do well on this final. Not so much looking forward to the studying. But it's good because then I get to sleep in for a whole week before Christmas. That will be nice.
My new job at Bath & Body is going well. I love it because it's so easy for me to sell these products to people because I experience them myself on a daily basis so I know what works really well for certain things. It might have a little more effect on my wallet though. I'm finding a lot more things that I want to get now that I'm walking around the store for hours. Good thing I get paid every week now :)

Awesome thing right now? I just need one more thing and I can wrap everyone's presents! I still have to make my grandma's and Nicole's baby's, but Grandma's is going to be a quick thing to do and I just need to do the finishing touches on Harmony's. Then wrapped up it will be. I always get so much more excited when my gifts get wrapped because I don't have to do any more planning for them. Wrapped and ready. I just need to find some pretty pink wrapping paper :)

Last thing: I am kind of obsessed with following tv shows lately. Here's my list:
Glee
Dexter
Walking Dead
Weeds
Cake Boss
How I Met Your Mother
The Big Band Theory
How It's Made
Degrassi
Extreme Couponing

Update!

I told myself that I would try to do this every night, or at least every other night. Didn't go so hot. Maybe I'm just lazy. Whatever, lol. Anyway, John got all moved in to his new house and it's really exciting to have somewhere other than his little tiny dorm room to hang out in. I really like it.

Another thing, I have all but two Christmas presents picked out/ordered/sitting in my room/wrapped. !!! That's exciting to me. I have had the funnest time picking out gifts for everyone. I think I did well this year <3

Thanksgiving was great. I think it's my favorite holiday other than Christmas. Plus Black Friday shopping afterward. We started at 10 pm Thursday night this year! Walmart was freaking insane. Then John and I went and stood outside in the freezing cold waiting for Target to open its doors at midnight. AN HOUR AND A HALF. Never again. Ever. But I got my darling Kinect :) Happiness. I also got some really cute boots and a game/dvd stand courtisy of my sweet mamma :) She went out and got those for me. And a CAKE BALL MAKER! SO excited for that one. I will be making cake balls on a stick and having a chocolate fountain at graduation. Who else will have cake balls, huh? That's right, bring me money.

Working at Bath & Body Friday morning was NOT even close to as bad as I was anticipating. I was stressin' so bad, I broke out. NO. But then I found out that I'm suprisingly good at retail. It was so easy and kind of fun. Actually really fun. Plus half the time when I wasn't helping people or stocking the shelves, I was planning my own Black Friday attack on the 3 for 3 sale on signature items and 2 for $20 three-wick candles! I feel guilty at the $100 I ended up spending but that's okay. I'm allowing myself. It was Black Friday damnit!

Beppy (John's grammy) showed me an awesome new knitting stitch that is so pretty! I will have to start another scarf in that style so I don't forget. She also showed me this awesome new yarn that makes bouncy scarves and a super fast to make. Oh, did I mention that I knit?

Lastly, ACCEPTANCE letter from Nothern State University came in the mail for me today! YAY! Not that hard to get but still exciting. Associates in General Studies, here I come! Lol, impressive. Don't worry, radiology is soon to come, just not at Northern.

First Blog Post.... Ever!

So this is my first blogging experience and I have to say, I'm rather excited about it. I feel like this will be kind of a play by play of my life, but I think maybe that's what I need. I love writing about my feelings, it makes me feel like a huge load has been lifted off my chest.

I also would like to note that yesterday, November 19th, was the first day of snow of 2011. That's just for me.

A little introduction:
I am Malerie.
I am 18 years old as of October 1st.
I have an amazing family that I wouldn't trade for the world.
I have an equally wonderful man that I have been dating for a year and a half. His name is John, and he's pretty great :)
I will be graduating high school May of 2012 = exciting :)
I currently work at my local movie theater and have been for the past 2 years.
I love doing art, but only as my hobby.
I plan on going to school for radiology.
I currently have an overflowing bookshelf that I love to death. Books are more of my life than I realize, and I think escaping into someone else's story helps me stay sane :)
I have awesome friends who have really helped me find who I am.
I am deeply in love with owls. They are my happy things.
My family has 3 dogs (2 chihuahuas and an English mastiff, talk about drastic!) and a tortoise, and I personally have a little fish and a cat that is currently living outside but is soon to hopefully move in with John in his new (rented) house! I'm so excited for that.

I feel this was a fairly successful blog post for my very first one. I hope to engage some people in my not-so-exciting-but-not-completely-boring sort of life :)
